The time required by a system for an output to pass
through a specified percentage of a process. For
example, a feedback system has a closed loop transfer
function of:

The system responds to a step command of 0 up to
time 0, then 1 at any positive time
.
The following figure is an example in which ω = 100
and ξ = 0.3.
